John Liccione Releases New Song "They Stopped Loving Him Today"

(AKA: The MAGA Singularity)

Today I'm releasing my new song in honor of Trump's first felony conviction. This song,

subtitled "The MAGA Singularity" envisions a day that will soon come when Trump's followers finally re-question and abandon their Trumpian belief system, in what is my comedic political parody interpretation of the old George Jones classic: "He Stopped Loving Her Today."

This song is dedicated to those brave men and women in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, Judge Merchan, and Court employees who worked so hard and delivered on behalf of American democracy the renegade President Donald Trump's first felony conviction.

They Stopped Loving Him Today (Lyrics)

by John Liccione

They said "We'll love you to we die."

He said "I could shoot somebody on 5th Ave and you'd still love me for all time."

But as the years went slowly by

He still preyed upon their minds (and their wallets)

They kept his picture on their lawns, and vans

Went half-crazy now and then (January 6th)

But still they loved him through it all

Hopin' he'd come back again

They kept their deleted Facebook posts by their beds

Dated 2016 to 2022

And they had underlined in red

Every single I'd die for you

They went to see him just today (at Mara Lago)

Oh...But they didn't see no tears (just some foaming at the mouth)

All trusted up and hauled away

First time they'd questioned their beliefs in years

(Chorus)

They stopped loving him today

They placed crime tape upon his door

And soon they'll perp-walk him away

They stopped loving him today.

They thought about votin' for him one last time

Oh, we all wondered if they would

And it kept running through my mind

Maybe this time their over him for good.

(Chorus)

They stopped loving him today

They placed crime tape upon his door

And soon they'll perp-walk him away

They stopped loving him today

Enjoy!
